fred –
This is a review for the unscented hand sanitizer in the green bottle. They’ve have scented versions but I haven’t tried them yet. Hand sanitizer is hand sanitizer, right? No. Like you, COVID has made me extra careful about what I use for sanitizer, masks, etc.
I shop around online and in stores and see a dizzying amount of hand sanitizers. Some look pretty decent; others are dicey. I think a lot of people look at hand sanitizer as a chance to make a quick buck.
This hand sanitizer from Sanitispray is 80% ethyl alcohol, 20% more than what the CDC recommends to kill germs. “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends consumers use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol (also referred to as ethanol or ethyl alcohol).”
So, why 80% instead of 70%, or 62%? Because alcohol evaporates in transit and over time. These bottles I bought will last for years. Second, it’s a sprayer. Very clever. I use less sanitizer with a sprayer than I do squeezing it out through a typical plastic bottle. Third, it’s made of glass – very eco-responsible. And last, it’s made in the US which is vitally important to me given the stories I’ve read about imports from other countries.
One little anecdote: I play tennis frequently. I found that the sanitizer actually gives me a better grip on my racket. This was especially helpful during our August days of 100-121 degree (Fahrenheit) weather.
